Dr. Charlotte Lawson is the CEO of Darby and a board-certified emergency physician. Dr. Lawson founded Darby while attending Harvard Business School in response to challenges she faced while delivering care during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company's Smart Intake software uses machine learning to turn image-based files (such as an e-fax referral documentation) into structured data, allowing intake, qualification, and audit preparation teams to scale efficiently. Darby was incubated out of the Harvard Innovation Lab and is backed by top tier healthcare and B2B SaaS investors including Flare Capital Partners, Underscore VC, Graham Healthcare Capital and January Ventures. Clinically, Dr. Lawson sees patients in the emergency department at Prisma Health. She completed her emergency medicine training and served as Chief Resident at Carolinas Medical Center, the flagship hospital for Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Lawson holds a BA in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania and received her MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a mom to two toddlers and resides in Greenville, South Carolina.
