Infection Control and Home Health Care: What to Use, Where to Use it and Why

Speaker: Jeffrey Cloidt

Course Description:

The increased incidence of virulent infections is worrisome. Antibiotic treatment is failing. Priority must be given to prevent your employees from contracting work related infections. Without an infection control program that uses appropriate products (EPA registered), providers are susceptible to lost labor hours and possible litigation. Furthermore, a comprehensive infection control program is an essential part of the accreditation process. Prevention programs are not expensive given the alternatives and are not difficult to implement with the correct information. This lecture is designed to give providers the information to do so.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define and differentiate common pathogens such as the two different types of MRSA
  2. Identify the various disinfectants and preventive aids available to protect those who deliver and service home health care equipment
  3. Recognize the importance of compliance in the prevention of pathogen transmission
  4. Discuss the proper use of infection control products to disinfect equipment for reuse. This includes hospital beds, CPAP masks and wheelchairs
