HME Survivor

Course Description:
This presentation is designed to provide hands-on tools for exploring opportunities for success in the HME business in a challenging marketplace. Each learner will be given tools to look at their own business to find unique opportunities for success. Information presented will include: how to research the market, evaluate market potential of their unique marketplace and how to build a plan for addressing the issues that threaten and key factors to successful implementation of the plan. The information presented is based on the presenters' real-life experiences. The pedagogical methods are Playing the HME Survivor Game. Each participant will be presented a packet at the beginning of the session. The packets will “team up” the players with others in the room. Teams will have to answer challenges and engage in activities in the spirit of the “Survivor” TV show. The challenges, both individual and team, will be used to demonstrate key points of the presentation. Presentation of an actual case study will be used to explore possible creative solutions to the problems that lie ahead in the HME industry. The audience will be given material to take with them that will provide them with tools for survival and success in HME.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the four key changes threatening the HME industry
- Describe the impact of these changes on his/her HME company
- Identify the specific actions available to respond to key changes and the possible impact of these actions for the learner's company
- Create a detailed business plan for the changes that are optimal for his/her HME company
- Implement a business plan that will optimize the opportunity to win the HME game
